Deicing Services

Living and Breathing the ‘Clean Aircraft’ Concept

Embracing and Investing in Technology

Northeast Air has been providing flights departing Portland International Jetport (PWM) with safe and dependable Deicing Services for more than 15 years. As the sole provider of all deicing services at PWM, Northeast Air has committed to doing its part in minimizing the impact of Propylene Glycol—also known as deicing fluid—on the environment while not losing its focus on its number one goal: SAFETY. We have done this through adopting state of the art technology that can support our mission.

  • Deicing (Type I and IV deicing fluids)
  • 9 deice trucks, including 6 Air Technology units with dedicated de-ice pad

Trucks – Air First Technology

Over eight years ago Northeast Air began its quest to minimize deicing fluid use by investing in state of the art AirFirst technology. The AirFirst system uses high pressure air to effectively and efficiently disperse deicing fluid on the surfaces of a plane. Using this technology we have been able to reduce our fluid consumption by 20-25% while meeting or exceeding industry safety standards.

Blending Fluids to Temperature

The Glycol Pro Junior blending unit allows our technicians precise control over the mix of glycol and water, and that mix is always based on an 18℉ buffer. Throughout the day, temperatures can fluctuate, so the Glycol Pro Junior unit can mix to various ratios based on the ambient temperature, all within that 18℉ buffer zone. This provides our customers with the perfect blend of glycol and water.

Staff

One of the key elements in ensuring a smooth, efficient, and effective deicing operation is the personnel who operates the machinery. At Northeast Air, we invest heavily in time and energy to find the right people for the job. We don’t just call them the Deicing Team because it sounds nice; these people have to truly work as one to accomplish the delicate dance that happens during each deicing event.

So when you travel to the Portland International Jetport (PWM), look out the airplane window and you can see how much we enjoy delivering a high quality & environmentally friendly service to our aviation friends.
